An Investigation of Common Malignant Diseases in Korea

Abstract
Malignant tumors, 6146 cases, diagnosed histologically from all specimen 9843 cases of tumor at National Medical Center for 15 years (1960~1975) were analyzed, and comparative studies were made in a distinctive year (1960, 1965, 1970, 1975) with proportional rate of malignant; disease from total number of an admitted patient at surgical department.
Among 431 malignant disease, operated in 1975, male has 194 cases (45.0%) and female, 237 cases (55.0%). In male malignant tumors, stomach, ca. (14.4%) was most common, and in female, uterine ca. (36.7%). Most common age of stomach ca. was ranged from 4 to 5th decade. In comparative study of 4th decade of age group, the number of stomach ca. was increased proportionally in distinctive year:
In female malignant disease, uterine ca. (22.4%) was most common, which was declined in number from 1965 (12.2%).
Breast ca was third common malignant disease in woman, which abundant age was ranged from 4 to 5th decade.
Lung ca. was 2nd common malignant disease in man, and the age was ranged from 4 to 5th decade, which was inclined up gradually from. 1960. In malignant lymphoma, it was most common in, young age group, which was increased in number year by year. The most common age group of rectal ca, was in. 5th decade, which number of male was inclined up from 1965 gradually while in female was declined. In hepatoma, the number was increased gradually from distinctive year 1960.
